The UCR Advocacy Network is on a mission to engage supporters, expand resources, and elevate the university’s goals and values. UCR advocates include faculty, students, administrators, staff, parents, alumni and friends who share an interest in elevating UCR's commitment to excellence.
Engage
The ever-changing nature of education funding and policy calls for a dedicated team of volunteers. Our advocates increase community and legislative support for the programs and services we pride ourselves on at UCR.
Expand
Advocacy for UCR’s world-class education, state-of-the art research facilities, and public service is more critical now than ever before. Your involvement as an advocate will help ensure UCR thrives amidst shifting budget priorities, term limits, competition for research dollars and demand for services.
Elevate
We depend on our volunteers with a variety of interests and talents to represent the needs, accomplishments, and goals of the university. Your voice can help sustain our commitment to UCR's impact on our students, community, and the economy.

Becoming an advocate means taking a stand for UCR’s standard of excellence and playing an integral role in shaping the future of UC education. Our goal is to generate public support for UCR, enabling our campus to:
- Retain our distinguished faculty
- Maintain state-of-the-art research facilities
- Support our internationally-recognized instructional, research, and community service programs
- Make education more widely-accessible to students, regardless of financial resources
Advocacy Day
Advocacy Day gives alumni, parents, and friends the opportunity to meet in small groups with elected officials to discuss issues affecting higher education and UCR in particular. No other group within the University community – faculty, administrators or students – is as effective as alumni and parents in reaching public officials and promoting the needs of UCR and we hope you’ll be able to join us. You can help make a difference!
March 9-10, 2020 [Register Now] Register for Advocacy Day in Sacramento by February 14, 2020.
Join fellow alumni and friends to meet with state legislators and other state officials on pressing issues for UCR.
Activities Include:
- Orientation and Issue Briefing
- Living the Promise Reception with California state legislators and other state officials featuring UCR Dean of the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences Kathryn Uhrich
- Small group meetings with state legislators at the State Capitol
- Luncheon at the State Capitol
Cost and Accommodations:
There is no fee to participate. Participants are responsible for their own transportation and accommodations.
A limited number of rooms have been blocked at the Sheraton Grand. ($195/night for the evening of March 9 only). Book now.
