UCR Campaign News

A Special Gift Opportunity for 2005!

In order to help charities after Hurricane Katrina, Congress changed the charitable deduction rules. Cash gifts for any purpose given from August 28 until December 31, 2005 are deductible up to double the normal charitable level. This applies to all charitable gifts, not just to those designated for Katrina relief.

This rule makes now an excellent time for a special cash major gift to UCR. Cash gifts for the rest of 2005 will generally be deductible up to your full income!

Another option made possible by the change in rules relates to IRA withdrawal gifts. You may have a large IRA, 401(k), 403(b) or other qualified retirement plan. With the ability to deduct charitable gifts up to your full income, you can take a withdrawal from your IRA, give that amount to UCR, and take a deduction for the full value. It is important that you check with your tax advisor to see if this plan works for you.

For more information about giving to UCR, please contact the Development Office at 951-827-5611

Have you made your UCR Fund gift yet this year? There is still time before the calendar year end! Make a gift online at www.ucrfund.ucr.edu and enter in source code 0524. Or call the UCR Fund Office at 951-UCR-4293."
